About

7th Newport Scout Group (Isle of Wight) opened in July 1957. There has been quite a change in leadership in the early years and in the late 70’s / early 80’s there was only a Cub Pack. In 1981 the Troop was able to re-open and both sections took part in a lot of Island scouting activities. In 1986, one of the first islands Beaver Colony was opened.

In the early 2010's, the Explorer Unit was formed for over 14s - this has now become No Limits Explorer Unit and works with the Group, though a partnership agreement.

In early 2023, we were lucky enough to open a Squirrel Drey for 4 to 6 year olds! 

There has been quite a change in Scouting since 1957, but 7th Newport is still passionate about the same values - to provide Skills for Life and lifelong memories for everybody!
