Scout Troop (10.5 years to 14 years)

Our Troop meets on Fridays in Newport Town Centre

Scouts is really where the magic happens, watching the young people thrive, and challenge themselves to test those skills for life, which began all at Squirrels, Beavers or Cubs! Our Troop is active, with being outside during the spring/summer months - hiking, geocaching, activity days at Corf Scout Camp, expeditions, rock climbing, all to name a few!

Scouts meet together as a Troop and work within a variety of small groups called ‘Patrols’ lead by a Patrol Leader who tends to be an older Scout.

Scouts work with the Leadership Team in setting the programme and in decisions affecting the Troop. The Patrol system is one of the important ways that young people can take responsibility for themselves and others.

The Chief Scouts Gold award is the highest award a Scout can earn during their time in the Troop. This is done by gaining the 9 challenge badges along with loads of activity badges. Activity badges in Scouts are more aimed at the young person choosing what badge they want to earn and completing it either at home or during the Troop meetings.
