Explorer Unit (14 to 18 years)

The No Limits Explorer Unit meets on Fridays, in Newport Town Centre

No Limits ESU (Explorer Scout Unit) is run at a County-wide level, and is linked to 7th Newport Scout Group through a partnership agreement - this means that resources can be shared, to make larger activities possible!

Explorer Scouts are the penultimate section for young people aged 14 to 18 years old. Explorers create their own programme, choosing their activities and are prepared for their future, wherever it may take them.

In Explorers a young person will be given the opportunity to gain some of the highest awards in Scouting that a young person can get before they move up to Network (18-25 year olds) where they can gain their Kings Scout Award. There are also 30 activity badges that an Explorer can choose to gain. The Unit is actively involved in delivering the Duke of Edinburgh’s award for all its members. This involves progress towards activities chosen by the Young Person - for example, a skill, a physical activity, some volunteering, and then an expedition.

The unit leadership team has expertise on these top awards, to aid completion to all Explorer Scouts.

Other activities such as week-long Summer Camps to the Lake District, Peak District and Wales; participating in National events such as Monopoly Run and Gilwell 24; and unit Water Weekends held at Corf Scout Camp.
